In the prequel to this movie, Judge Dredd will try and convict an escaped convict played by Scott Glenn, who will be sentenced to a lifetime of slavery.
The case will be known as the "Dredd Scott Decision."
I never saw the film, but the Mad magazine satire told me everything I needed to know...until I read this.
What a waste of Diane Lane. I have a massive crush on her and she still looks good. We're the same age.
I'm sure that Max Von Sydow and Jurgen Prochnow did the movie for the paycheck and took advantage of it to chew the scenery.
I've never liked dystopian post-apocalyptic fiction. After 9/11, I could not watch "Independence Day." The total destruction of my native city was no longer entertaining. "28 Days Later" was even more upsetting, as that was the destruction of London, a beloved city with an even longer history.
I'm writing -- slowly -- a "Hunger Games" fanfiction, but it's not about the war or the love triangle, but the postwar nation and the adults who fought the war, and their struggle to rebuild themselves and Panem. It's more positive in tone than mindless and dystopian horror.
who knew they could fit so many Taco Bells onto the Bladerunner set. there were some bright moments in the film, Coors touting "recycled food" and the intersections being named after famous comedy duos, Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen and that's only 30 minutes in
I was also excited by the prospect of a different kind of comic book movie, and I remain embittered. Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this movie is that little changes here and there could have made a huge difference. Stallone's performance, for instance, could only have been improved by keeping ALL of it under the helmet.
This sounds like a combination of SCOTUS gone wild (a/k/a pretty much what we have now) and Project 2025.
Is this a documentary?
No, just amazingly prescient and visionary slop.
Sadly.

Wait'll he finds out what they do to punsters around here.
I'm a big fan of capital pun-ishment....
Y'know, that could also apply to the publication of this Substack.

Well, Camille Paglia loved it. So there!
I stand rebuked. And befuddled.
I'm still having trouble figuring out Camille Paglia.
Camille's a bit like the Borel Conjecture. I don't believe there IS a correct solution.
Like Riemann’s Hypothesis.
Schroedinger's Pussy
Now please contrast it with a review of the much-better-but-still-not-good-remake Dredd (2012)

Rob Schneider’s in it. Shoulda went with David Spade.
<<both the product of a secret eugenics program called Janus>>
I'm sure you added the "J" there.
It seemed polite.
<<It worked for Alan Bates and Donald Pleasance in The Caretaker, but it seems less effective coming from a guy in a Teflon codpiece.>>
BILL! SHAT..NERLIBEL!
<<a combination of Police, Jury, and Executioner.>>
So Gregg Abbot?
